Comprehensive 7-Day Cusco Adventure: History, Hiking, and Heritage

The seven-day itinerary begins with a walking tour in Cusco, exploring historical sites such as the San Cristóbal Viewpoint, Calle 7 Borreguitos, and the San Pedro Market. Days 2 and 3 are dedicated to a two-day trip to Machu Picchu, including a journey through Abra Málaga, Santa María, and a guided tour of the Inca citadel. The fourth day features a hike to Humantay Lake, followed by an excursion to Rainbow Mountain on the fifth day. The sixth day is spent exploring the seven lakes of Ausangate, ending with a return to Cusco. Finally, day 7 consists of a transfer to the airport, concluding the tour.

Our tour will take us to emblematic places, starting with the Mirador de San Cristobal, from where we can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city. We will continue along the picturesque 7 Borreguitos Street, immersing ourselves in its colonial charm and fascinating stories.

We cannot miss the opportunity to visit the ancient Sapantiana Aqueduct, an impressive example of Inca hydraulic engineering that still survives in the urban landscape. In addition, we will marvel at the famous Stone of the 12 Angles, an extraordinary example of Inca art and architectural precision.

We will continue our walk through the lively Main Square, the vibrant heart of the city, where history and daily life intertwine in fascinating ways. Finally, we will explore the bustling San Pedro Market, where the colors, aromas and flavors will immerse us in authentic Cusco culture.

Machupicchu by car 2D 1N

Day 1: Departure will be at 6:15 am towards Ollantaytambo. We will make a brief technical stop of approximately 30 minutes to stretch our legs. Then, we will continue our journey winding upwards to Abra Malaga, situated at 4,316 meters above sea level. From this point, we will witness the spectacular landscapes of the mountains and Peruvian jungle.

After a stop to capture panoramic views, we will descend into the lush Cusco jungle, passing through different altitude levels that offer views of imposing snow-capped peaks and the warm cloud forest. Upon reaching Santa Maria, we will find a well-maintained road, continuing onwards to the town of Santa Teresa. Finally, we will arrive at Hidroelectrica, where we will enjoy a comforting lunch.

Later, we will travel to Aguas Calientes via a picturesque route alongside the train line and the Urubamba River (approximately 3 hours), arriving around 5:00 pm. Once there, we will settle into our respective assigned hostels or hotels and have free time to rest or visit the relaxing hot springs of Aguas Calientes. At 7:00 pm, we will gather for dinner followed by an informative briefing by our guide, preparing us for the exciting visit to Machu Picchu citadel the next day.

Day 2: You will have the option to ascend to Machu Picchu by bus or on foot. The guided tour of this archaeological wonder will begin at 7:00 am and will last approximately 2 and a half hours. Afterward, we will begin the return journey to Hidroelectrica following the same route as the previous day. There, we will board the vehicle that will take us back to the city of Cusco, arriving at the city center around 10:00 pm (optional return by train).

Humantay Lake

This day starts early, at 04:30 am. We will pick you up at your hotel and begin our journey by road to Mollepata, where you will enjoy breakfast. Then, we will continue on a dirt road until we reach the town of Soraypampa. From there, we will begin a hike of about an hour and a half until we reach the beautiful Humantay Lagoon, which is located at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level. You will have time to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and take pictures. This tour has a medium level of difficulty and requires an acceptable level of fitness.

After visiting Humantay, we will descend to Soraypampa to take our vehicle that will take us back to the town of Mollepata, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch. Then, we will continue our trip back to the city of Cusco, where we will arrive around 6:00 pm. Overnight in Cusco.

Rainbow Mountain

At 04:30 am, you will depart from your hotel to Cusipata, following a paved road to Paucarpata for a delicious breakfast. Then, you will head to Qomer Qocha to begin a hike of approximately 1 hour to the impressive Colored Mountain (Vinicunca), at 5,200 meters above sea level. The hike is medium level and requires a good level of fitness. You will have time to capture spectacular photos.

After the visit to the mountain, you will return to Qomer Qocha and take our vehicle to a restaurant for lunch. After a short rest, you will return to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 pm. Overnight in Cusco.

7 Ausangate lakes

We will start the tour with the pick up of the group from their hotels at 04:30 a.m. to go to the community of Pacchanta, located in the foothills of the snowy Ausangate. The trip takes approximately 3 hours from Cusco, accessing through the southern interoceanic highway and a dirt road.

In Pacchanta, we will enjoy breakfast before starting our hike to explore the 7 lakes. After two hours of walking, we will arrive at a viewpoint from where we will be able to appreciate the first lagoon, Pucacocha. We will then continue our tour to visit the other lagoons, including Patacocha, Alqacocha, Qomercocha, Orco Otorongo, China Otorongo and Azul Cocha, each offering breathtaking scenery and photo opportunities.

After completing the circuit of the lagoons, we will return to Pacchanta to have lunch and enjoy the hot springs. Afterwards, we will prepare for the return trip to Cusco by the same inter-oceanic route, arriving in the city around 19:00 p.m.

Transfer to the airport

After several days of intense activity, the day comes to say goodbye.

At the coordinated time our vehicle will pick you up at your hotel for the transfer to the airport and that will be the end of our services.
