Historical and Cultural Cusco: 5-Day Program

This exciting 5-day itinerary in Cusco immerses you in the rich history and natural beauty of the region. It begins with your arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport and a transfer to your hotel. The second day takes you to the breathtaking Sacred Valley, where you will visit Chinchero, Moray and the salt mines of Maras, followed by an exploration of Ollantaytambo and a train ride to Aguas Calientes. Day three is the crown jewel with a visit to Machu Picchu and free time to explore. On the fourth day, you will embark on an exciting hike to the Mountain of Colors (Vinicunca). Finally, the fifth day marks the return home with a transfer to the Cusco airport. A complete tour that combines culture, nature and adventure in one of Peru’s most fascinating destinations.

Exploration of Cusco's Ancient Wonders

On Day 1, upon arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco, guests are transferred to their hotel followed by a 1 pm city tour starting at the Qoricancha Temple. The tour proceeds to the archaeological marvels of Sacsaywaman, Qenqo, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay, each showcasing unique Inca architecture and historical significance. The day concludes with a return to the hotel by 6:30 pm for an overnight stay in Cusco.

Arrival in Cusco / City Tour

Arrival in Cusco, reception at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport and transfer to the hotel. At 1pm, the city tour begins with a visit to the Temple of Qoricancha. Afterwards, we will head to the archaeological centers, such as Sacsaywaman, known for its huge polished and shaped stones, followed by the mystical Inca temple of Qenqo, where religious sacrifices were made. Afterwards, we will visit the Inca military and control center of Puka Pukara, to finish with the Temple of Tambomachay, famous for its water fountains. Return to the hotel around 18:30. Overnight in Cusco.

sacred Valley

The tour begins at 06:30 am with a visit to Chinchero, where you will explore its church and archaeological park. You will have the opportunity to visit a textile production center that employs ancestral techniques. Then, you will head to the archaeological park of Moray, known for its circular terraces, followed by a visit to the Salineras de Maras, a complex of about 5000 ponds still used for salt production.

Afterwards, you will head to Urubamba to enjoy a buffet lunch. Then, you will visit Ollantaytambo, a “living Inca city” that preserves the original design of the Inca era. Here, you will explore the archaeological park, which includes the Temple of the Sun, built with megaliths, the temple of the 10 niches, sacred fountains and the representation of the Andean god Tunupa.

Later, you will head to the Ollantaytambo train station to take a 1 ½ hour train ride to Aguas Calientes. There, our staff will pick you up and take you to your assigned hotel. That night, a local tour guide will visit you to coordinate the next day’s tour. You will spend the night in Aguas Calientes.

Machu Picchu

At the scheduled time, you will take a bus that will take you on a 25-minute ride to the entrance of the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. You will enjoy a visit of approximately 2 hours to the citadel, where our guide will show and explain all the details of this world wonder.

Our guide’s work will end when you complete the circuit inside the Inca citadel. Afterwards, you will have the afternoon free to have lunch on your own until the departure time of the train.

To return to Cusco, you must be at the train station half an hour before the time indicated on your tickets. Then, you will board the train that will take you to the town of Ollantaytambo, where you will be picked up by our bus to return to the city of Cusco. You will spend the night in Cusco.

Mountain of Colors (Vinicunca)

At 04:30 a.m., we will pick you up at your hotel to begin a trip on a paved road towards the town of Cusipata. Then, we will continue on a dirt road until we reach Paucarpata, where you will enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue the journey to Qomer Qocha, where you will have time to prepare and receive recommendations from our guide before the hike.

The hike takes approximately 1 hour on average and has a MEDIUM level of difficulty, so an acceptable level of fitness is required. Once on the mountain, you will have time to take memorable photos. Afterwards, you will return to Qomer Qocha and board our vehicle that will take you to a restaurant for lunch for the day.

After a short rest, you will return to the city of Cusco. The tour will conclude around 05:30 p.m. approximately. Overnight in Cusco.
